SÓLAS Founder and President, Patrick Moynihan began his career in the hearth industry more than 40 years ago. It was 1988 when he and his family made the decision to move from their native Ireland to the United States. Patrick became the lead at Waterford Irish Stoves as its President for North America. After a successful 11 years, Waterford Irish Stoves decided to sell its US division. As a result of the sale, Patrick took a leap of faith and started his own company, Progressive Manufacturing, Inc., (PMI). PMI began fabricating components for multiple hearth manufacturers and quickly built a reputation for quality as a trusted partner.

Years later Patrick’s son, David Moynihan joined the company after earning his engineering degree and gaining valuable work experience outside the family business. David now serves as Vice President of Engineering and leads Research and Development for both PMI and SÓLAS. David literally grew up in the hearth business, it’s in his blood and he now has over 10 years of experience as a leading engineer. As a result, the father-son team brings a unique perspective to the marketplace.
